Official description
In celebration of the Maison’s 40th anniversary, Jacob & Co. introduces the Angel Cut, a diamond cut of its own invention. Patented and refined in-house over two years, it makes its debut in the Billionaire Double Tourbillon.
The Angel Cut solves a long-standing problem in gem cutting. Rectangular stones preserve more of the rough than round brilliants, but return light less vividly. Rather than add facets, Jacob & Co. reworked the geometry. The cut has 37 facets, fewer than most traditional cuts, arranged around a lozenge-shaped table within a stepped rectangular outline with cut corners. Calibrated crown height, pavilion depth, and facet alignment send light upward in a continuous glow rather than scattered flashes. The effect is a brilliance that feels composed: bright without harshness, fiery without fragmentation, and alive even in the low light inside a gem-set case. The 37 facets carry a second meaning: they mark the 37 years of marriage between Jacob Arabo and his wife Angela, after whom the cut is named.
The watch is built to showcase the cut at scale. Its 54 × 41 mm white-gold case is set with 98 Angel Cut diamonds totaling 51.13 carats, many of them unusually large, while the crown is set with a rose-cut white diamond. The dial adds 88 more, invisibly set and framing the twin tourbillon apertures. The inner rings of the double tourbillons are further adorned with 80 white diamonds, while the folding clasp is invisibly set with an additional 30 Angel Cut diamonds. Altogether, the watch is set with 297 diamonds totaling approximately 80 carats.
Beneath the diamonds, the hand-wound JCAM50 calibre comprises 460 components and offers a 72-hour power reserve. Its two flying tourbillons, positioned at 12 and 6 o’clock and linked by a differential, animate the openworked movement while averaging their rates through a shared regulating system. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the skeletonized architecture allows light to pass through the movement, reinforcing the transparency and brilliance of the Angel Cut diamonds.
Limited to 6 pieces.
